The land is immensely blessed with natural beauty and an abundancy of wildlife. To the north National parks such as Kidepo Savannah National park and interesting communities such as the Karamojong. To the south and west, nature’s explosion of beauty in the form of Forests such as Bwindi Impenetrable and Kibale Forest, hills and mountain ranges such as the Rwenzori ranges, abundant wildlife in parks such as Queen Elizabeth National park. To the East, the all but famous Source of the Nile and the beautiful volcanic ranges of Mount Elgon. These all support a never ending list of activities and capabilities of spotting wildlife such as Zebras, buffaloes, Rhinos, Lions, Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzees and so many more

Itinerary

Have breakfast and then drive off to Kara-tunga Safari Camp where you will have your dinner and the overnight stay. En route, you will drive through the pristine Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve. While there, you may decide to visit the Ngapedet Cave on a nature walk to gain some historical insights or go for game viewing in search of Pian Upe inhabitants such as; ostriches, common elands, plain zebras, the greater kudu, savanna monitor lizards and the only remaining numbers of roan antelope in the whole of Uganda. It is also only in Pian Upe that you may have the chance to see cheetahs.

Accommodation: (Kara-tunga Safari Camp-Moderate)

Enjoy your breakfast then embark on a 2-day mount Moroto hiking, trekking and camping expedition for a mix of rich encounters with Uganda’s highland people, breathtaking views and unique sights along the trails and unique campsites where you can enjoy the sunset, the stars and sunrise over the planes of Karamoja. Mount Moroto is an ancient volcano raising out of the semi-arid planes of Karamoja forming the highest mountain in the region with numerous peaks offering days of adventure. Thereafter, return downhill and return to the booked accommodation.
Accommodation on day 3: (Kara-tunga Safari Camp-Moderate)

On this day you will spend the entire day relaxing at the lodge. Alternatively, you may opt to undertake activities that may be organized by the lodge at an extra cost on the ground.

Have breakfast and proceed for Hiking and trekking Mount Kadam. An exciting alternative to the more strenuous climbs in East Africa with many of the same attractions, a milder climate, lower elevation and requires no special equipment or technical experience. Mount Kadam is the second highest and volcanic mountain of the Karamoja region with the highest peak at 3,063 meters.
Due to the geographical location, Mount Kadam is home to many surrounding tribes: Pokot, Karamojong, Gishu, Tepeth, Sebei and the Kadama. The inhabitants are majorly agriculturalist and live in small settlements. The camp will be set with front row seats of the sunset and sunrise. The afternoon will be spent exploring a high altitude rain forest and different viewpoints. Return to the booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
Accommodation on day 6: (Kara-tunga Safari Camp-Moderate)

Have breakfast and drive off to Kidepo Valley National Park, arriving early for some rest and lunch before going out for game viewing. You will proceed for game viewing in the Narus Valley in the south sector of Kidepo. Narus is the sector of Kidepo that has savannah grasslands mixed with acacia woodland. It is also the area of the park with permanent water sources throughout the year and for that matter, most of the animals are in this part of the park. Be on the look for large herds of Buffaloes, many Zebras, antelope species and the lions. You will return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Be up early, have breakfast and set off to hike Mount Morungole, located in the northern hills of Karamoja. You will find stunningly beautiful Scenery the higher your climb takes you, simply breathtaking scenes in the valleys below you and into the Eastern Rift Valley of Kenya and over to Southern Sudan. While in Morungole, expect to encounter the smallest tribe of Uganda called the Ik. The Ik have always lived in nowadays Kidepo Valley National Park but have been displaced 50 years ago whereby they now live on the mountain ridges. Visiting the IK gives you a rare insight of a very unique tribe in Africa. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy your breakfast then embark on a sunrise game drive where you will have the opportunity to encounter wildlife including; lions, herds of buffalos, elephants, zebras, or the elusive leopard among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation. Optional (extra cost): Just in case you feel like doing some activity, you may consider; A). the Karamojong community, cultural encounter where you will spend a wonderful afternoon (evening) with the Karamojong people and have an insight on their way of life and beliefs, B). another afternoon/evening game drive.

After breakfast, depart on a morning game drive to Kanangorok hot springs. These hot springs lie 11km beyond the Kidepo river on Uganda’s border with South Sudan. Though the hot Spring aren’t the best in the world, they offer breathtaking views of the mountains beyond the frontier. Thereafter, return to your accommodation for lunch before proceeding for an afternoon guided nature walk where you will take a 2 hours guided nature walk along the Narus Valley extending over 5 km from the Apoka Tourism center.

Have early breakfast at the accommodation and embark on the transfer Back to Kampala City. It will be a long but surely not disappointing ride.
