3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking, Batwa Pygmies & Bunyonyi

On this trip your will enjoy a face to face encounter with Uganda mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, spend one evening on a community tour to visit the Batwa forest pygmy’s tribe who were evicted from the forest to enable conservation of these amazing giants, and after tracking enjoy optional relaxing at your hotel located at on one of the 29 islands found in Lake Bunyonyi, unmistakably the best way to go for gorilla tracking in Uganda.

Our tour guide/driver will meet you at the airport and take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Depending on your arrival time, you can either spend an overnight in Kampala/Entebbe for a fee of less than $100 for late-arriving flights, or immediately head west to the home of the mountain gorillas.

The 9 to 10 hours of driving are worthwhile because of the picturesque views of the western countryside, the terraced Kabale Hills, the fruit shops, and, most significantly, the picture-perfect crossing of the equator line with a lunch stop later in Mbarara

For millennia, the Batwa lived in harmony with the forest and its inhabitants, including mountain gorillas. Some anthropologists believe that pygmy tribes such as the Batwa have lived in Africa’s equatorial forests for 60,000 years or more. Our tour guide will take you to their community where you will be welcomed into their home as they demonstrate wonderful skills they have mastered for generations including fire and cloth making.

After an early breakfast, depart with a packed lunch to the starting point of the gorilla trekking. At the briefing point, a group of locals will entertain you where after you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek for the day in the company of an armed ranger. Due to the close relationship between humans and these gentle giants, it has been found that most human diseases are easily contractible to these amazing creatures, therefore you are required to carry a face mask and follow all instructions from the ranger throughout the trek

The trekking experience takes between 1- 3 hours and involves slippery paths during hikes. On this tour we request you to hire a porter to help you with luggage and any other gears that may need to be taken to the forest to capture your moments. This way you have absolutely nothing to worry about!

After successful trekking, you will be awarded a certificate and optional drive to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation.

Today, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home with a stop at the equator. After breakfast and lunch, you may have time to do some shopping for a souvenir before you take your outbound flight.
